DPF Filter
DPF Filter

The Dpf (diesel partical filter) can cause all sorts of problems, Its a filter within the exhaust which filters out diesel particals. These carbon deposits are cleared from the system by the engine "regenerating" by blowing un burnt fuel down the exhaust which is then ignited. If you only do small journeys the sytem may not do enough regenerating causing the filter to get restricted or blocked causing all sorts of problems from spluttering, hicups, mis-firing, increased back pressure which can cause manifold problems including cracking (mainly on the 174 model) There are sensors within the dpf unit which will cause your engine management light to come on when there is a problem. From vw the dpf filter is nearly £1000!!!!!

The dpf is designed to lower emissions, which it does, but when it goes wrong its very expensive to put right especially if you were to just replace the parts back to standard.

To remove the DPF pipe on a T5 there are 2 stages

You will need to replace the actual pipe and replace with our custom made stainless version.  You could also remove the partical filter without purchasing this pipe by smashing it out which we dont recommend.

The second stage is to remove the DPF code within the ecu.  This needs to be done by a specialist tuner or mapper. These are available all across the u.k (please contact us for more information)

You may also wish to make the best from your upgrade by getting your ecu re-mapped at the same time, again please contact us for more information.

In most cases you can get your van re-mapped (for more performance and mpg) the dpf pipe fitted and the ecu code removed from the ecu for a lot less than replacing the dpf at vw!
